Dr. T. Sean Lynch: Runner-Up for Arthroscopy's Clinical Research Award
Columbia Orthopedics hip arthroscopy specialist, T. Sean Lynch, MD, was among the authors, on a recent publication, selected as a runner-up for the Clinical Research Award from Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, the official journal of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). Dr. Lynch was shortlisted for this honor for his work on the article titled “Epidemiology and Detrimental Impact of Opioid Use in Patients Undergoing Arthroscopic Treatment of Femoroacetabular Impingement Syndrome.”
The study was a collaboration with Cleveland Clinic orthopedic surgeon, James Rosneck, MD, which detailed the effect of preoperative opioid use in patients with FAI syndrome. It concluded that preoperative opioid use prior to arthroscopy surgery for patients with FAI syndrome has detrimental impacts on hip pain and function.
