Patient Named Comeback Player of the Year Just One Year After UCL Surgery with Dr. Christopher Ahmad

July 9, 2018

Jake Weintraub, a patient of Columbia Orthopedics provider Christopher S. Ahmad, MD, was recently named Comeback Player of the Year just one year after undergoing ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) repair surgery. Before his surgery, he was pitching mid-80’s fastballs but pain from his elbow rapidly deteriorated his performance on the field. After being diagnosed with a torn UCL, he was treated by Dr. Ahmad and his UCL was surgically repaired. Now, he’s pitching for the Sports KingDome Aces in the Hudson Valley Collegiate Baseball League and hopes to make the George Washington University baseball team as a walk-on.

“Jake Weintraub is a tremendous young high school baseball athlete with an all too familiar story from the mound,” said Dr. Ahmad. “I am extremely proud of how he handled himself during this injury, and for the dedication he showed during a truly arduous rehabilitation process!”
