Dr. Nadeen Chahine Appointed as Associate Director of Carroll Laboratories
Columbia Orthopedics is thrilled to announce that Dr. Nadeen Chahine, in recognition of her contributions to the lab and department, was recently appointed as the Associate Director of Carroll Laboratories. Dr. Chahine will work alongside Carroll Laboratories Director, Dr. Starvos Thomopoulos, to continue the laboratories’ goal to engage in scientific exchange and train the next generation of researchers.
“I’m delighted to assume the role of Associate Director of the Carroll Laboratories. I will continue to work hard and serve the department and the Labs at the highest level,” stated Dr. Chahine, “Our mission is to transform musculoskeletal medicine through innovative basic science and translational research.”
During her time as a researcher at Carroll Laboratories, Dr. Chahine worked to further her lab’s research on degeneration and regeneration of the intervertebral disc in the spine. She took the lead on several initiatives, including starting a monthly Musculoskeletal Research Seminar Series that invites experts in the facets of musculoskeletal research to present their work and meet with faculty and trainees.
“This seminar series has been a big success on campus, bringing together faculty from the Medical, Engineering, and Dental Schools for discussions and collaborations, said Dr. Thomopoulos, “In her new role as Associate Director of the Carroll Laboratories, Dr. Chahine will continue to lead this and other educational efforts as well as manage core facilities such as biopolymer 3D printing and atomic force microscopy.”
