Dr. Yelena Akelina Receives 2023 ISEM Sun Lee Award

Congratulations to our Co-Director of the Columbia Orthopedics Microsurgery Research and Training Lab, Yelena Akelina, DVM, MS, who was recently awarded the Sun Lee Award at the 2023 International Society for Experimental Microsurgery (ISEM). The society promotes the art of microsurgical research activity worldwide with the goal of bringing scientists up to date and familiarize with current status of experimental microsurgery. ISEM awards those with an distinguished career in experimental microsurgery with the Sun Lee Award.

"I was unbelievably honored and very grateful to the International Society for Experimental Microsurgery for recognizing my lifetime achievement in microsurgery education by awarding me the Sun Lee’s Outstanding Experimental Microsurgery Career Award...very happy to celebrate with my husband and my friends and colleagues," said Yelena.
