2021 Resident Award Recipients
For more than 150 years since its founding in 1866, the New York Orthopaedic Hospital; now Columbia Orthopedics – has been a force for excellence in orthopedic patient care, research, and education. On June 19, 2021 the Columbia Orthopedics Residency Graduation was held along with an awards ceremony to honor the residents.
Alexander Garcia, MD – Outstanding Senior Resident Award
Awarded to a resident who combines qualities of academic excellence and clinical proficiency with empathy during patient care.

Nas S. Eftekhar, MD – Outstanding Hip & Knee Surgery Award
Awarded to a resident who combines qualities of academic excellence and clinical proficiency with empathy during hip and knee surgery.

Robert E. Carroll, MD – Hand Award
Awarded to a resident who demonstrates interest, professional competence and academic excellence in hand and upper extremity surgery.

Harrison McLaughlin, MD – Trauma Award
Awarded to a resident who demonstrates sound clinical judgment and technical competence in the treatment of trauma patients.

Rosamond Kane, MD – Pediatric Orthopedic Award
Awarded to a resident who demonstrates sensitivity to the special needs of children and possesses qualities of academic excellence, clinical expertise and technical proficiency.

Awarded to a resident who has demonstrated qualities of research excellence in the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases.

Harold M. Dick, MD – Outstanding "Junior" Resident Award
Awarded to a PGY-2 resident who has demonstrated sound clinical judgment, industriousness and efficiency in the management of patients.
