Spine Team Developed Best Practice Guidelines for Spinal Deformity Surgery

Columbia Orthopedics spine team leaders Michael G. Vitale, MD, MPH; Hiroko Matsumoto, PhD; Ronald A. Lehman, Jr., MD; and Lawrence G. Lenke, MD have developed best practice guidelines on wrong level surgery in spinal deformity. The guidelines were published in Spine Deformity based on the consensus of 16-fellowship-trained spine surgeons. From the conclusion:

"This can serve as a tool to reduce the variability in preoperative and intraoperative practices and guide research regarding the effectiveness of such interventions on the incidence of wrong-level surgery."
