NYP Highlights Some of the Recent Advances at Columbia Orthopedics

Among the many achievements at Columbia Orthopedics this year, NewYork-Presbyterian's quarterly newsletter - Advances in Orthopedics - shines a spotlight on the following stories:
- Earlier this year, Chairman, Dr. William Levine was named Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS). He previously served on the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and is a past Director of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
- NewYork-Presbyterian hosted its first annual Spine Summit which focused on a variety of safety and quality advances made in spine surgery for both adult and pediatric patients.
- Chief Quality Officer for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Michael Vitale continues to work in collaboration with Chairman, Dr. William Levine and Quality Officer, Kevin Wang to develop protocols and processes that will improve the overall outcomes of patients seeking orthopedic care.
- Stavros Thomopoulos, PhD, was recruited by Dr. William Levine to become the Director of the Dr. Robert E. Carroll and Jane Chace Carroll Laboratories at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.
